Odysseus after fighting the Trojan War for ten years, wants very much to return to his home in Ithaca and his family. Ha has to face many obstacles which the god Poseidon puts in his way. For example, on one island there is a goddess who is a witch, Circe, who turns most of the men into pigs. On another island there is a giant, a cyclops, who traps them in a cave. These disasters cost Odysseus eleven of his twelve ships and all of his men, but eventually he returns to Ithaca. Here he has to fight the men who want to marry his wife and live in his palace. Finally, after twenty long years, Odysseus is home with his wife Penelope and his son Telemachus.
